ISG STUDENTS EXCEL IN SCIENCE INDIA FIESTA-2017

Indian School Al Ghubra, took part enthusiastically in the Annual Science India Fiesta – 2017 organized by the Science India Forum, Muscat under the patronage of H.E. Indra Mani Pandey, the Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, in association with Vijnana Bharati. This event which celebrates Science was held on the 12th and 13th of May 2017.  Many competitions such as Skit, Quiz, Exhibition, Debate, Digital Symposium, Photography, On the Spot Projects and Teacher Presentation were held to inspire children to explore the world of Science.

Teams from Indian schools vied with each other for top honours. The ISG team comprising Abdul Azeem, Meenakshi Nair, Nayan Anil, Deepash Shukla, Ashil Aruldhas, Edison Wesley, Tarun Suvindran and Karthik Raja came First in the Skit  competition  on the theme ‘Space Technology for Human Benefit’. In the Quiz competition, the Junior Quiz team of ISG comprising Advait Menon, Bhavesh Nair and Nivedita Jayaram won the Second Prize. Nitu Andrews won the Second Prize in the Debate competition for Juniors. Mrs. Reshmi Hari, Teacher in the Department of Science of ISG came first in the Teacher Presentation segment for her talk on ‘Innovation in Space Technology’.

The Closing Ceremony was held at the Grand Hall, Al Falaj Hotel.  H. E. Indra Mani Pandey delivered the Inaugural Address while the Chief Guest, Padma Bhushan Dr. Sivathanu Pillai, Senior Scientist and former Chief Controller of R & D of Defense Research and Development Organisation was the Keynote Speaker.  The students who did exceptionally well in the Sastra Prathibha Contest  held annually by the Science India Forum were felicitated by the Ambassador of India.  From ISG, Pranshu Das Gupta of class 7 was awarded the highest honour of Sastra Prathibha while Aaron Derick Arokianathan of class 8 and Anirudh Menon of class 10 were felicitated as Sastra Prabhas. ISG was the proud winner of the Indian Ambassador’s Rolling Trophy in the Sastra Prathibha Contest (Juniors).

The event encouraged the students to develop a scientific temper in order to find innovative solutions to overcome the challenges faced by the world today.
