MOMENTOUS DAY AT ISG WITH CRICKET LEGEND AZHARUDDIN

 

Excitement marked the day as the students at Indian School Al Ghubra extended a hearty welcome to the former Indian cricket skipper, Mohammed Azharuddin, during his visit to the school on 1 May 2017.

Mr Sunil Kattakath,  Convenor, School Management Committee honoured the legend with a memento. Mrs Papri Ghosh, Principal, in her welcome address expressed her elation that one of India’s former cricket captain had come to address the students. She thanked the Oman Cricket General Secretary, Mr Madhu Jesrani, Mr Duleep Mendis, the coach of Oman National Cricket team and Mr Iqbal Ariwala GM, Oman Cricket  Association who had made the visit of the legendary player possible. The Head Girl, Rupsha Debnath,the Head Boy, Siddhant Suri Dhawan  and the President, Student Council, K.S.Suraaj welcomed the special guest with a floral bouquet.

Mrs Ghosh reminiscenced the exalting moments when he scored his debut century, at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

 

The 'wristy' batsman of yesteryears in his address stated that being passionate in the chosen field of interest is of paramount importance and one should strive with single-minded devotion to be successful. He said that a ‘Never give up’ attitude should be the hall mark of a leader in any given situation. Mr Azharuddin congratulated the ISG Girls Cricket team who have recently clinched the Champion League Trophy and gave away the prizes.

 

The interactive session of the students with the flamboyant batsman was motivating and inspirational.  The great moments with the legend’s visit to school have left a lasting impact on all, especially the cricket lovers of ISG.
